TuneUp Utilities 2008 is the latest version of a very successful system optimization software. I have been using TuneUp Utilities software for years now without any problems.

It all started when I was experiencing a slow system and could not understand why. Some friends suggested trying TuneUp Utilities as it had worked on their system. I downloaded the software and easily installed. I then ran the Registry Cleaner and TuneUp Disk Cleaner along with the System Optimizer. When I restarted the computer it was running a lot better than previously.

From that humble begining, I now use TuneUp Utilities once a week to keep my computer running at peak level. That is why I was looking forward to testing the 2008 version of TuneUp Utilities.

TuneUp's Registry Cleaner tool is especially helpful, allowing you to pick areas you want cleaned and make a backup copy so you can easily correct an accidental or harmful deletion. This feature also breaks down the errors found into categories; you can select an error for a brief description or double-click it to go to the error right inside the registry.

Temp file management, registry cleaners and start-up program controls are the bread-and-butter of these utilities, and these basics work in TuneUp more quickly and easily than most.

On maintenance, TuneUp Utilities 2008 comes with a useful process manager, an effective uninstall tool, a frequently used program list (which allows you to easily manage programs used most often) and the ability to automatically delete Internet history as you log off.

You can also manage Windows startup programs with TuneUp Utilities; you can disable, edit, add or delete programs that begin when you logon with the Auto-Start Manager tool. The Startup Guard notifies you whenever a new program is assigned to start with Windows.
